The Source to Tap Land Incentive Scheme is a pilot cross-border farming scheme which is the first of its kind, and is being trialled in the River Derg area.
The Scheme aims to give landowners, who farm in the part of the River Derg catchment upstream of the Derg Water Treatment Works, grants of up to £20,000 for a farm business based in Northern Ireland; €23,000 for a farm business based in Ireland, to make some small changes in farming practice that will make the farm business more sustainable whilst also helping to protect water quality in the River Derg – a win-win for everyone!
Any landowner in the River Derg catchment, upstream of the Derg Water Treatment Works (see map on right), is eligible to apply. We need your help to identify areas on your farm where improvements can be made to benefit your farm and help improve water quality.
By walking your farm with your Project Officer they will produce your very own Water Environment Management Plan, identifying items that can be funded through this Scheme. We will then help you complete the simple application form for the grant.
The applicant must be the landowner, so if you are a tenant farmer please speak to your landlord about applying to the Scheme.
The Scheme will open from 25th July 2018 to 15th December 2020 and will be managed on a first come first served basis.
